Hey, can we talk for a minute?
I recently read a post from someone who’s received hundreds of rejection letters. Hundreds. She said it’s the most painful message she keeps receiving, over and over again. And reading that broke my heart—because I know she’s not alone. You might be in the same boat right now.
The job market is brutal right now. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. The average job seeker needs to submit 42 applications just to land one interview. Only 2.4% of applicants even make it to the interview stage. That means you’re competing against more than 100 other people for every role.
But here’s what I want you to hear: if you’re struggling, it doesn’t mean you’re not good enough. It means the game has changed.
👉 The unemployment rate for recent grads is 5.3%, but underemployment—working jobs that don’t require your degree—is at 41%. Nearly half of grads are doing work they’re overqualified for, just to get a foot in the door.
👉 The average job search takes 3–6 months, sometimes longer. So if you’re exhausted, that’s not weakness—it’s normal.
And I know what you might be thinking:
“Maybe I’m not cut out for this.”
“Maybe I chose the wrong major.”
“Maybe I just don’t have what it takes.”
Stop right there.
Because what separates the people who eventually break through from those who give up isn’t talent. It’s not even luck. It’s persistence. It’s showing up one more time after being knocked down.
Every successful person you admire has a rejection story.
📚 J.K. Rowling was rejected by 12 publishers before Harry Potter.
🎙 Oprah was fired from her first TV job.
🎨 Walt Disney was told he “lacked imagination.”
Rejection isn’t the end of the road—it’s part of the path.
So here’s what I want you to do:
1️⃣ Adjust your strategy, not your worth.
If you’re not getting results, refine your resume, customize your cover letter, and reach out to your network differently.
2️⃣ Track your wins.
Every step forward counts—a phone screen, a reply, a new skill. Don’t discount small progress.
3️⃣ Build relationships.
70% of jobs are filled through networking, and 85% through connections. One coffee chat could change everything.
4️⃣ Protect your mental health.
Set time boundaries for job searching. Move your body. Rest. You can’t show up strong if you’re burned out.
And please remember this truth: sometimes rejection has nothing to do with you. Companies face budget cuts, hiring freezes, or internal hires. That “no” is not a verdict on your value—it’s just one door closing so another can open.
I know you’re tired. I know the silence hurts. But you didn’t come this far to only come this far. You’ve survived 100% of your hardest days already. You’re stronger than you think.
The job that’s meant for you only needs to say yes once.
Just once.
So keep refining. Keep learning. Keep applying. Keep believing.
Because somewhere out there, there’s a company that needs exactly what you bring to the table.
Your breakthrough is coming. Don’t you dare give up right before it happens.
You’ve got this. I believe in you.
