Ever wonder why some people climb the career ladder while others stall?
Spoiler alert: Nobody achieves success alone.
Hi friends! Coach Maya here.
Consider your career success as building a dream team—not just your work bestie, but four key people you need:
- Mentor: Someone who’s been there, sharing wisdom and navigating challenges.
- Advocates: Your professional cheerleaders who promote you when you’re not in the room.
- Truth-Tellers: Those who provide honest feedback, even when it’s hard to hear.
- Sponsor: A senior leader who puts their reputation on the line for you.
Many can name mentors and advocates, but truth-tellers and sponsors are rarer.
Take a moment and identify who’s missing from your squad. If you don’t have a sponsor, upgrade a mentor relationship by showcasing your achievements. If you lack a truth-teller, find someone you trust and ask for honest feedback.
Here’s my challenge: This week, identify which role you need most and reach out to someone who could fill that gap.
Drop in the comments which role you’re focusing on first! If this helped you, share it with someone who could use their own dream team.
